formal name is Myeongbo. One of the most prominent generals who fought Japanese
during Japanese invasion in 1592.

General Jin Park (1560~1597) is a military general during the regime of King
Sunjo in Chosun. His family origin is Milyang, and his formal name is Myeongbo.
He entered politics in the 22 nd year of Sunjo¡¯s regime(1589), and accomplished
many in a war against Japanese, especially succeeded in recovering Gyeongju castle,
which was overthrown in Aug of 1592, by using fire-triggered explosives.
Fire-triggered explosive was invented by Jangson Lee during King Sunjo¡¯s regime
in Chosun era, which led to great victory in war of Gyeongju castle. The victory
in war of Gyeongju castle is considered an important war in the beginning of
the Japanese invasion in 1592 because it prevented plunder of the enemies from
several tens eups in Youngnam region. The general was later promoted to army
general of Jeonla and Hwanghae-do/local governor of Hwangju, then reached vice-minister.
He received posthumous conferment of honors as a vice-minister, and given a poet¡¯s
name, Uiyeol.
