About Cultural Properties
Dolmen is the representative tomb of Bronze Age, which can be divided into table(northern
style), checker board(foundation style), and open(baseless) styles. Dolmen in
Hakgok-li is in table style, which has tomb room with 4 foundation stones on
ground, and large cover stone on them. Although shield stones to block both sides
are gone, the condition of this dolmen is fairly good.
It is located in a backyard of a house owned by one of the residents in Hakgok-li,
Baekhak-myeon. It was made of basalt, which can easily be found in the local.
It has 1 cover stone and 1 supporting stone, and the other supporting stone
was made of granite.
The surface of cover stone was delicately trimmed, and smoothened toward the
center from the edge. The shape of its plane is pentagonal, and the dimension
of cover stone is 2.7m in diameter, 0.45m in width, placed long in direction
of north and east. There are 8 holes of 7cm in diameter on the upper side of
the cover stone.
The entire dimension is 267X180X50cm, distance between supporting stones is
55cm, and the height of supporting stones is 60cm. It is placed in direction
of north and south, and the size of supporting stone is 2m, which is relatively
arger than that of other dolmens.
